Greater Kudu

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ South Africa

The greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is a large antelope famous for the impressive corkscrew horns found on the males. They have 6–10 vertical white stripes along their sides, a chevron over the nasal bridge, and white facial marking along the cheeks. On the neck and shoulders is an crest and a hump on their back above the shoulders. Their ears are large and round, making them very sensitive to noise. They are mainly browsers and water dependent, so they don't go too far from water sources.

The greater kudu is listed as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2016) with a current population trend that is stable.
