South African Giraffes

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ South Africa

The IUCN Red List contains only one species of giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis); however, the southern giraffe (G. giraffa) is a separate species, and the South African giraffe (G. g. giraffa) is a subspecies of the southern giraffe (Southern Giraffe - Giraffe Conservation Foundation, 2024). The giraffe (G. camelopardalis) is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2016) with a current population trend that is decreasing. The photos shown here are of the South African giraffe. A group of giraffes is called a tower of giraffes.

Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved.
